While Hampton Roads has its share of condos and townhomes, our area is mostly comprised of single family detached homes.  Although some buyers like the idea of tight knit communities, there are plenty who don't mind walking a little further to borrow that cup of sugar.  With this in mind, single family homes usually are more expensive and buyers are often forced to purchase a home with an assigned parking spot.  My travels lately have taken me in a lot of neighborhoods with great ranches at good prices.  So I've decided to give hope to those who want to keep their payments at around $1500/month or less and not listen to every argument from the couple on the other side of the firewall.  My figures today are coming from, what we call, the Southside.  These cities include Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Suffolk.  You may be surprised to find out that currently there are 632 single family detached homes with at least 3 bedrooms between $175k - $200k that for sale right now.  Many of these properties are in great shape and have been flipped or remodeled.  You will also find that many are in charming, well-maintained neighborhoods.  If you're a renter, first-time buyer, or someone just needing a change and want to keep your payments fairly low, don't despair.  There is plenty of inventory and more coming on the market daily.  You can call or email me for a detailed report of your choice.
